Three steps, and the settings.
Every setting below is one the studio's panel really has.

What it does, and what it doesn't.

How it searches
It halves the gap eight times: too big, it tries lower; small enough, it tries higher. You get the best one under your number.

When it can't
If even 40% quality is too big, you get the smallest it made. Resize the picture first, then try again.

KB here means 1,024 bytes
Forms differ. If yours counts 1,000, aim a little lower.

Why is it a bit under my number, not exactly on it?
It stops at the best quality that fits, which is rarely the exact byte.
My form wants under 50 KB and it won't get there.
Make the picture smaller in pixels first with Resize; fewer pixels need fewer bytes.
Is it free?

Is my picture uploaded?
