Good to know
What it does, and what it doesn't.
01
Your browser writes it
FyDark asks your browser to encode the file. Chrome and Edge write WebP; if a browser can't write a format, it hands back a PNG, and FyDark names the file by what was really written.
02
Every current browser shows it
WebP opens in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, so it's safe for a website.
03
Many at once
For a folder of JPGs, Batch Optimize does the same to up to 25 free.
04
Metadata goes
Re-encoding leaves the camera's EXIF data behind.
